Community Guidelines
The rules that keep The Change Community safe for everyone: what is prohibited, what is expected of members, and how moderation works.
Prohibited at all times
Breaching these rules results in content removal and may result in immediate suspension and referral to the police or a local authority.
- Victim-blaming
- Threats of any kind
- Harassment
- Hate speech
- Naming or identifying victims or survivors
- Identifying children
- Publishing private addresses
- Publishing court documents containing identifying information
- Intimate images
- Encouraging anyone to breach court orders
- Advice designed to circumvent safeguarding measures
- Using the community to contact or intimidate another person
Expected of members
Speak from your own experience, keep accountability at the centre, respect moderation decisions, and report anything that concerns you.
Posts represent members’ own experiences and are not professional legal advice. If you need legal advice, speak to a qualified solicitor.
Display names and privacy
Members post under display names, never legal names. Choose a name that does not identify you, anyone else, or any child. Do not share contact details, addresses or court documents in posts or replies.
Moderation and consequences
Community content and reports are reviewed by the site administrator in line with these published community guidelines. Life After Change is not monitored continuously and is not an emergency or statutory safeguarding service. Reports will be reviewed as soon as reasonably practicable, but no response time can be guaranteed. If anyone is in immediate danger, call 999. Depending on the severity of a breach, we may remove content, issue a warning, suspend an account, or refer matters to the police or a local authority. Decisions of the moderation team are final.
Reporting
If you see something that concerns you, use the Report option on the post or reply. You can also raise a safeguarding concern through our safeguarding page. We review every report.
Scope
These guidelines apply to all areas of The Change Community, including posts, replies and any member-generated content. They work alongside our Safeguarding policy, Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
